The NIH Chief Officer for Scientific Workforce Diversity is hosting the virtual event “How Does Mentoring Impact Diversity in the Biomedical and Behavioral Research Workforce?” on Wednesday, June 14, 10:30 a.m. –12:00 p.m. ET.

 

A panel of experts will discuss the latest data evaluating factors that contribute to successful mentoring relationships. Panelists will also discuss the importance of theoretical models and building an inclusive environment through mentorship. Dr. Karen Salt, Deputy Director for Research Culture and Environment within the UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), will join the discussion to share insights from her work advancing equality, diversity, and inclusion in research careers.

The mission of the Chief Officer for Scientific Workforce Diversity (COSWD) is to be the NIH thought leader in the science of scientific workforce diversity, using evidence-based approaches to catalyze cultures of inclusive excellence.

The Scientific Workforce Diversity Seminar Series (SWDSS) is convened by the COSWD office. The virtual speaker series began in September 2021 as part of the COSWD Marie A. Bernard, M.D.’s vision for the COSWD office. The SWDSS shares the latest research on scientific workforce diversity topics by engaging with interested professionals and researchers at NIH and beyond.
