  • Sabbaticals
    Opportunities exist for visiting rehabilitation investigators to work with experts at our center, as appropriate. Such experiences can be in association with a “pilot study” (see below), or independent. It is expected that the home institution of the visiting investigator will share substantial responsibility for financial support of the candidate's extended visit. However, sabbatical investigators are typically invited to present a research seminar during their stay, which provides a $400 honorarium, and can also cover some hotel and travel expenses.
  • Pilot studies
    A total of $87,000 per year (direct costs) have been set aside to support small pilot research studies by qualified investigators through core facilities. Grants will be awarded for pilot studies, including possible sabbaticals and on-site training of personnel. Investigators are strongly encouraged to contact core staff with their project ideas, for feedback and assistance with experimental design and budgetary issues, before submitting proposals. Submitted proposals are externally reviewed, and if they are of sufficient scientific merit, they are supported according to funding availability.
